Ken and Michelle

Soundwater is a country/folk duo featuring a 12 string guitar and harmonies reminiscent of Simon and Garfunkel, The Beatles, Peter, Paul and Mary and a wee touch of the Everly Brothers.  They enjoy singing new and retro  lyrical ballads with strong storytelling elements like those of Bob Dylan and John Prine.  They have been performing together for just over a year and everywhere they have played has led to more gigs! Consider them old school folksy folks (60 and 75 years of age) as they still get gigs from hand-shakes when people see them play.

Ken has been playing music since his high-school band and played with the successful band, Revival, in Manitoba, in the 80's and 90's.  Michelle has been performing for decades too but singing lead is new for her since they formed Soundwater in 2025 and they have taken flight!

They started with several private parties in Vancouver, then were invited to do a Celebration of Life and from this we were invited to play a Valentine's concert in Bucerias, Mexico at a private villa.   In 2025 we were invited to play at the University of the Fraser Valley for the College of the Arts Interpret Festival.  Then we were featured as the sound element for the  Fraser Valley Literary Festival.  We love playing at the Trout Lake farmer's market near our home community in Vancouver, BC.  We are also delighted to be featured performers on regular rotation at a seniors home in Burnaby.

We are members of the Pacific Bluegrass and Old Time Music Society at The Anza Club.  We were invited to perform there a few times in 2025. In August 2025 we were featured on the main stage at Western Days in Sandy Lake, Manitoba.  We were invited guests performing with the Codgadoors in August for a "Save Sandy Lake" Fundraiser.  We played a lot in 2025 including Just Jo's, the Golf course in Sandy Lake, The Erickson hotel and the Elkhorn Resort in Riding Mountain, Manitoba.  We were invited to play on Salt Spring island in the Gulf Islands in BC and have a 3 day gig there in January of 2026. We have also been invited to bring our music to Galiano island.

We are committed environmentalists and feature a few songs that address social justice. For example, our revision of Simple Song of Freedom (Bobby Darin) addresses Canadian sovereignty in light of our neighbour to the South!

We were nominated in 2025 for the Fraser Valley Music Awards in the folk/country category!  We are excited to bring forth eco-folk and country tunes for  Earth Day 2026 as a feature performance for the Be The Change Earth Alliance. We have also been invited back to Bucerias, Mexico for another concert in January of 2026.  Meanwhile, we keep playing locally in Manitoba and Vancouver.  We would love to bring our soothing Soundwater vibes to your event, festival or concert!

"What I noticed most was the way that their voices blend.  I liked the tones.  The 12 string guitar sound was really full as well.  Keep it up, you two!"
